Production Helper
Metalcraft Technology Ltd. is a manufacturer of precision sheet metal parts. We are located in Coquitlam, BC, and currently looking for Shop Helpers to join our team. Applicant must live in British Columbia.
Job duties and responsibilities:
The shop helper is responsible for assisting production team with the following activities:
- Using the scanners to clock in and out of all jobs orders
- Study job orders and interpret engineering drawings to determine operations to be performed
- Maintaining quality standards by conducting first article inspections (FAI) and using hold tags
- Filling in Work-Orders (Completed quantity counts, first article inspection sign offs), and initiating Non-conformance reports (NCR)
- Loads, stacks, and transports stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or dolly
- Cleans and scrapes metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping, using scraping tool
- Picks up scrap from work areas, & general clean-up of the shop floor
- Daily cleaning of the work area being used (including equipment and workspace)
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery
- Proactively reports machine problems or non-routine maintenance required
- Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Support other activities as required by company requirements and management direction
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related tasks/goals as needed
Duties while powder coating (line assistant) may include:

- Preparing production equipment for operation by making equipment setup adjustments; assisting with equipment changeovers
- Documenting production and production process by completing production logs, noting the receipt, flow, return of materials, noting bins, racks, deliveries, move tickets, and log sheets
- Maintaining quality standards by conducting first-piece and line-clearance inspection, masking and taping product, and making equipment adjustments
- Maintaining production line operation by solving production process problems, making equipment adjustments, referring questions to the supervisor
- Maintaining production operations by following policies and procedures (equipment, raw and in-process materials, and finished goods), reporting needed changes
Qualifications:
- Experience in metal shop or other industrial / trades work is an advantage
- Must be detail oriented, hard working, and comfortable with hands-on work.
- Must be a fast learner
- Must be good listener and follow directions.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to work individually or as a team, with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Committed and reliable worker
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must own steel toe boots as safety equipment
Shift is full-time, 40 hours per week Monday to Friday Day and night shifts available.
